Is Thanksgiving a religious holiday?

I work in a call center (unfortunately) and I was telling customers Happy thanksgiving. The girl who was the lead that night told me not to say that because some people might not follow by that religion. I have a bachelors degree in religion and am pretty sure that it is NOT a religious holiday but I thought maybe I might be wrong. I didn’t want to argue with her about it though at work. What do you think?

NO it is not. It is a celebration of a “first” meal shared between European settlers and the Native people in the area where the settlers settled.
