Mario party 8 and Super Mario Bro. for wii won’t play. Is it the console or the game?
Mario party 8 will let me chose the disc channel, then let me chose start on the menu, then gives me the can not read disk error. Super Mario Bro. will play for about 30 seconds, then gives me an error to eject the game and turn off the power to the console. It doesn’t matter where the games is – if I start from the beginning or where we left off, it gives me the error after 30 seconds, it is not always the same place on the game. They worked for a while and now will not after trying several times. The games show no scratches. Game party and wii sports work fine. Mii channel works fine. I called nintendo and they were not much help.
I have the same issue so I might be going out to buy a new wii tonight since I had it for a couple years. How long have you had your wii? It could also be the lenses that are causing error screens. You can buy a laser lense cleaner cheat at a gamestop. If that doesn’t work then its the wii. Try playing the games on a different Wii to see if those will run. If those games run then your Wii is most likely kaput. I tried playing Luigi’s Mansion on the Wii and I got the error message but when I played it on the gamecube it worked fine. Older games were known to have issues with the wii. Smoking can cause the wii to malfunction since the smoke can get into the wii and damage the inner parts. If you didn’t break any warrenty rules you can send it into nintendo for repairs. Be careful how you take care of your discs, any contamination can cause your wii to have trouble reading discs.
