how do i ask my mom to not open the shower curtain while im taking a shower?
she does this a lot..
if she wants to talk to me while in the shower, she opens the curtain. if she wants to check if im washing my hair, she opens the curtain. its uncomfortable for me, because im 15.
sometimes, shes in the bathroom brushing her teeth, and i have to use the bathroom. i tell her ill wait until she finishes so i can go to the bathroom. she tells me no its fine, you can use it now. the thing is, i have to use the toilet WHILE shes brushing her teeth. its very uncomfortable for me.
i sometimes wish i could close the door to the bathroom, but she sometimes doesnt let me. honestly, its getting to my nerves. ive tried talking to her once, and her excuse was “you cant ask me that. im your mom, and i was there when you were in your birthday suit, i was there when i showered you for 4 years.”
how can i explain to her that im 15 and i need my privacy with these things?
I think she is doing that because there is no confidence and open dialogue between you two specially about sex and sexuality and probably she even doesn’t know your naked body and yourself deeply. It’s just curiousity and a way to have a contact while you still make worse the situation. Parents gets tons of doubts and worries towards their sons specially during the puberty when the relationship becomes different with adolescent more introverse and unsociable.
